LINE-X: The ridiculously robust spray-on material

Imagine you could spraypaint high durability onto an object.

Imagining it?

Ok, good.

Turns out that was a waste of time, because you don’t have to imagine it. It already exists, and it’s marketed under the brand name LINE-X.

I was first made aware of this highly interesting chemical over at the youtube channel Veritasium, quite a long time ago, and realized it was a good topic for the blog.

Indestructible Coating?!

Spraying a melon with LINE-X and yeeting it off the top of a tower, and it bounces like a rubber ball. What’s next? Using it to walk on water maybe?

LINE-X Lets You Walk on Water - Waterproof a Cardboard Box with LINE-X Polyurea
Well, yes actually. Turns out it lets you walk on water. As long as the water has nowhere to escape to, by for example being trapped in a totally waterproof box.

Sam O’Nella Academy

A while back I was on a youtube-binge, and I stumbled across the Sam O’Nella Academy. Quite a large channel, and it’s a small wonder I hadn’t heard of it sooner than I did.

Concept

The channel features hilarious stick figure drawings, while the content creator gives an introduction to a topic, usually some strange or often outright bizarre piece of history or science. He’s a fantastic joke writer, and packs his animations with a lot of personality. The guy definitely understands comedic timing, and that less can be more if you do it right.

Topics

Sam O’Nella Academy has videos on a variety of topics. Here’s a video about pre-industrial surgeries, definitely one of my favorites from this channel.

Other great example topics are Tarrare – the Frenchman with an extreme appetite, Why being a pirate used to suck, Fidel Castros weird fixation on dairy, and Diogenes – the Greek cynic philosopher who lived on the street.

Definitely worth checking out this channel.

Jinjer

About a year ago I was introduced to this interesting Ukrainian band called Jinjer. To say this band has become a sensation is like saying water is moist.

Composed of vocalist Tatiana Shmaylyuk, guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov, bassist Eugene Kostyuk and drummer Eugene Mantulin this is a formidable group of musicians.

Most widely known for their vocalist, for reasons that will become obvious when you listen to their music – we shouldn’t forget to appreciate the amazing musicianship of her bandmates, who are all fantastic in their own right. But of course, Tatianas vocal performance is undeniably something quite special. I’m convinced that whatever genre she decided to embrace, she’d become a highly successful performer within it.

JINJER - Pisces (Live Session) | Napalm Records
Pisces. The real breakthrough for Jinjer. Now everyone and their cat is posting ‘reaction videos’ of this one, and it always delivers.

So, Pisces is the golden goose for Jinjer. This video has spread like ebola, or wildfire if you want something a bit more cliché. But Jinjer has a lot of interesting songs, including but not limited to Astronomy, Captain Clock, Teacher Teacher, Sit Stay Roll Over, Who is gonna be the one? and Just Another.

This game is so delightfully absurd, barely even limited by the collective imagination of it’s players. It may be the best game ever made, as Sseth illustrates in this video, which I strongly recommend checking out. I have very little to add to this, except to say: this youtuber is well known for his dark sense of humor, so this isn’t necessarily for everyone. It is however, spot on for me.
